Barbacoa – #TuesdayFoodsday

If you enjoy food with a presentation, Barbacoa is the restaurant for you.  Tableside guacamole preparation?  Check.  Fast and friendly service?  Check.  Delicious food?  Check.  Excellent presentation?  Check.  Dessert soaked in whiskey and lit on fire?  Check.

I was recently treated to a meal here by a colleague.  From the made to order guacamole to the hot rock steak to the flaming bananas foster, the meal was excellent.  Friendly staff that made sure your glass was never empty and that you never waited for anything is probably the only thing better than the food.

I had the Hot Rock Steak.  Steak cooked in the kitchen, brought out on an 800 degree rock, topped with a flaming cognac sauce.  My sides where a sinful mac-n-cheese with bacon and ham, and garlic and bacon green beans.  Ended the night with flaming bananas foster (blew out the flame early and enjoyed a little more alcohol in my dessert).  Start to finish I was impressed and the service was excellent.  It is not a place you want to eat if you aren’t willing to spend a little money, but there are plenty of affordable menu items.

Finally, the architecture and artwork inside are AMAZING!  A sculpture of Medusa, hand-blown glass chandelier (which I first thought were sperm but turned out to be antlers), slat wood ceiling and so on.  It is worth your time and money to dine here at least once.

If you are in Boise, enjoy a meal with a nice view of the lake!
