Wake Up Call Imperial Coffee Porter – Grand Teton Brewing – #ThirstyThursday

Last year, the folks over at Grand Teton sent me an email asking me what I thought people might be interested in seeing in their Cellar Reserve Series.  Among my handful of responses was an Imperial Coffee Porter/Stout.  I had tried several that I really enjoyed and their Black Cauldron Imperial Stout was a tasty stout.  I was excited when I received a press release announcing an Imperial Coffee Porter as their September Cellar Reserve release.  I am not taking credit for the beer, but it was cool to hear that I was at least in tune with what the head brewer had in mind.

I will tell you more about my trip to the brewery for the release party another time.  Let’s talk about Wake Up Call Imperial Coffee Porter.

While it is not a potent porter in the ABV department (7.5%) it still has enough that you can have one and be satisfied.  Using Caffe Ibis coffee in the brewing process you get a nice malty beer that is complimented well by a nice dark coffee flavor.  You get a nice roasted malt flavor on the front end and then are greeted by the deliciousness of the coffee on the back end.

This would be a great brunch beer or one for a cool to chilly evening.  It tasted great as I was watching the sun set over the Grand Tetons.  If you are a dark beer lover, a coffee lover, or a coffee stout/porter lover, you will love this beer!
