Winter Solstice – Anderson Valley Brewing – #ThirstyThursday

We are back from vacation and tired as hell.  Fortunately for you, we did do some research while on vacation.

Anderson Valley is a brewery that features a great selection of beers and their ales are great, but they have a couple beers that are not of our tastes buds preferred genre (FACT: we don’t like yeast.  Probably due to a case of Thrush a decade ago).  Winter Solstice, however, is a hit.  We have found an influx of winter beers this holiday season.  We had an opportunity to try the Winter Solstice last week.

A sweeter winter beer, it has a nice light brown color (a little darker than Newcastle) and flavors that are reminiscent of the season.  Anderson Valley claims the spice flavor on their website and we can’t help but feel there is a hint of brown sugar.  This beer goes down smooth and will be a hit with people who don’t like hoppy beers and like a flavor-filled beer.  At 6.9% ABV it is just enough to make this a 1-2 beer drink time.  Much more and you can get yourself a cab as a present.
