If you have read this blog before, you know that I:

1) Love Grand Teton Brewing.
2) Hate most Belgian beers.

I received an advance sample of Oud Bruin, the latest in GTBC’s Cellar Reserve series and I was more than a little nervous when I saw that it was a Belgian Ale. However, much to my surprise, the sweetness of the beer helped cancel out the yeastiness its Belgian heritage. This is definitely a drinkable beer. If you are a fan of Belgian Ale’s I could see you being disappointed with the sweetness of the beer. If you are not necessarily a fan of Belgian beers I think you will enjoy how the sweetness, maltiness, and yeastiness dance together in a delicious blend. At 6% ABV it is definitely going to be a beer you want to share as it is coming in 22 oz bottles, but it is going to be refreshing when you have it on May 15th when it is released or 3-4 months later after you have cellared it a bit. Give it a taste, we think it is a choice you won’t regret.
