There are all sorts of crazy drinks being created out there. Walk into almost any bar and there will be a shot or mixed drink with a catchy name like Scooby Snacks or Painkiller. In the opposite direction, classic cocktails are making a strong come back. Today we will take a look at a classic grown-up whiskey cocktail. If you don’t drink a Manhattan, then we recommend checking out the Old Fashioned. Like the Manhattan, the Old Fashioned is a cocktail from days past that brings out the flavor of whiskey without overpowering it with mixers. One note about the Old Fashioned, is that the recipe varies from person to person, bar to bar. Use this recipe as a guideline and tailor it to your taste.

Old Fashioned

3 oz. whiskey
Dash water
Sugar cube
2-3 dashes Angostura bitters (or orange bitters)

Muddle water, sugar, and bitters in Old Fashioned glass. Add whiskey.

Serve on the rocks with an orange peel.
