Over Thanksgiving I took a trip to Portland. On Thanksgiving morning we looking for a place to get brunch and stumbled across the Radio Room. It was one of those accidents that you don’t regret. I ordered my go to (eggs benny) with a hot buttered rum and my fiancé ordered butternut squash soup with breakfast potatoes.

I have eaten lots of eggs benedict in my life and this was, hands down, the best I had ever eaten. The hollandaise sauce was the perfect balance of rich and savory flavors and was matched perfectly with the bacon and eggs. The breakfast potatoes were just the right balance between crispy and mushy with just the right herb combination. The soup was one of those soups that is perfect for a rainy fall day. The hot buttered rum was a balanced sweet and spiced.

Across the board the staff of the Radio Room hit it out of the park. From getting local rum in the HBR to the attention to detail in the kitchen, we enjoyed our meal and the service. If you are in Portland it is worth the trip to the Alberta Neighborhood to get some grub at the Radio Room.
